I got woke up this morning by mag lights slamming against the side of my van on the corner of Muir and Cable st in Ocean Beach. They banged and made me come out. When I tried to hand them my rights card instead of accept their questioning they threatened to give me a ticket, impound my vehicle - which was legally parked, search my vehicle, and put my dog in the pound......I happen to be a writer and activist who just found my next mission in life....expose the double standard, expose the hypocrisy, make some fucking noise.

Anyone with information about the laws, regulations, and ordinances concerning car camping in San Diego please let me know.

    damn that sucks, Josh.
I've been sleeping in residential areas in my van in Santa Cruz for about a month now.
Have had some run-ins with nosy people, but luckily no cops yet.
    godspeed

I have a Subaru wagon my girl and I sleep in there almost more than we sleep at home. You can park it just about any where and get away with it if no one knows you are sleeping in it. Limo tint the windows and I even covered the back windows with paper on the inside so no one can see in at all. When you park make sure it looks like you could be visiting the house next door. Dont hang out side of the van, just crawl in back. If your Van is all beet up then you need to park in the area of town that the van would fit in. The key is to blend in. Rebel in Cogneto.

I do know that a lot of city's have ordinances stating you cant sleep in your car but I don't know about SD. Just play there game.
